Everyone Should Have an Estate Plan

In addition to handling your assets after you are gone, an estate plan also addresses how you want your healthcare and financial and legal affairs managed in the event you become incapacitated physically or mentally and can no longer make these decisions on your own.  Our partners can help you make good choices in selecting people you trust on matters of your advance healthcare directives, livings wills and trusts and power of attorney.  We can also draft or amend guardianships for minors, and changes to heirs and beneficiaries with a simple codicil.

What Is a Codicil?

A codicil is similar to a will, but not necessarily identical to it. It can be used to amend an existing will rather than replace it, especially if there are only portions of the original document that need to be amended. A codicil can be used to modify or revoke provisions made to the original document without having to start over with a will that serves as the foundation of every estate plan.
